Acerca del Autor
Bram Stoker
Autor irlandés, Bram Stoker estudió Ciencias y Matemáticas en el Trinity College de Dublín, tras lo que comenzó a trabajar para la administración irlandesa. Stoker comenzó entonces a realizar críticas de arte y teatro, al mismo tiempo que completaba su formación en Derecho para poder ejercer en Inglaterra, donde se estableció poco después.
En lo narrativo, Stoker destacó por sus obras dedicadas a géneros como el misterio y el terror, comenzando su carrera con la publicación de relatos en revistas como Shamrock o la London Society, mientras mantenía su trabajo como crítico literario para medios como el Daily Telegraph y como director del Lyceum Theatre. En este periodo escribió algunas de sus obras más conocidas como La dama del sudario, La guarida del Gusano Blanco o Drácula.
Drácula es, sin duda, la obra con la que Stoker pasó a la historia de la literatura. Publicada en 1897, la novela no consiguió un éxito inmediato, aunque poco a poco el empuje de la crítica la fue dando a conocer al gran público, que la aceptó como una novela de aventuras. Sin embargo, las adaptaciones de Drácula, primero al teatro y luego al cine, cambiaron la percepción de la obra hasta convertirla en una de las historias más icónicas de la literatura de terror.
